2019 Summer/Fall (late)
Honors Transfer Program Application
HONORS TRANSFER PROGRAM
We are now accepting late applications to start the program in Summer/Fall 2019. Our late application period is from Monday, May 6th 2019 and closes Monday, July 8th.
Please note that students who apply to the HTP during this period will not be eligible for priority registration through the Honors Transfer Program for Summer/Fall 2019.
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS: Students who are new to ECC will have to complete three crucial steps to be eligible for the Honors Transfer Program. The steps are:
1. An ECC application
2. An ECC orientation (either online or in person)
3. An education plan (EdPlan) with an ECC counselor
You must read the HTP handbook to answer the open book test in the online application. Click the link to view/print the HTP Handbook.
You will not be able to save your application and come back to it. Therefore, we recommend that you type your essay BEFORE proceeding with the application. This will allow you sufficient time to edit and proofread before submitting. See next section for essay question(s).You will also need to be ready to upload a copy of your unofficial transcript.
If this is your first semester at El Camino College and you do not have a GPA or any grades posted you must complete a Grade Progress Report. The grade progress report is for ECC student use only. If you are still in high school, you do not need to submit a grade progress report.
Write an essay of at least 600 words that addresses ONE of the following:
Essay Option 1:
What is your intended major? Discuss your interest in the subject and any experience you have had in the field (such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities) and what you have gained from your involvement. Furthermore, explain a personal quality, accomplishment, life experience, or contribution that relates to your intended major.
Essay Option 2:
If you have not chosen a specific major, describe how you will search for and select a major while here at ECC. Discuss how you will pursue experiences that will help you determine your potential interest and success in that field. Discuss a personal quality, accomplishment, or life experience that will contribute to your success in the Honors Transfer Program and in whatever major you eventually choose.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have not completed English 1A, English 1AH, or English 1AS before you begin the Honors Transfer Program, you must take one of those classes during your first semester in the program (Summer or Fall).
Note: Failing to get 100% on this test may disqualify you from acceptance to the HTP. Reading and following instructions are very important in this program, so please check your work carefully.
NOTE: As a currently enrolled high school student you will be required to upload your unofficial high school transcript ONLY. This means you will not be uploading a grade progress report or an unofficial ECC transcript.
NOTE: As a currently enrolled El Camino College student you will be required to upload your unofficial ECC transcript. If you have less than 9 transferable units completed and/or your transferable GPA is less than 3.1 you would upload an HTP completion form in place of an ECC transcript.
We need to know how many transferable units you have completed at ECC. This is the first number listed on the last line of your unoffical transcript, titled "Transfer Unit Summary".
We need to know your transferable ECC GPA? This is the GPA listed on the last line of your unoffical transcript, titled "Transfer Unit Summary".
Upload your Transcript or Grade Progress Report: If you are an incoming high school student, meaning that you graduated or will be graduating in June, you must submit your unofficial high school transcript. If you are a continuing ECC student, you must submit your current unofficial ECC transcript.
NOTE: You will only be allowed to upload ONE document. Only upload the item below that applys specifically to you.
Be sure the GPA and units on your transcript can be easily read by the reviewer.
